While we know our hoops, it is possible for us to have a "miss" or two here and there. Tonight's action proved that, although, when we were right, we were very right, but when we were wrong, we were very wrong.Check out our preditions from last night about tonight's games below with our comments in italics:
2. UNC playing Virginia at Chapel Hill. If they successfully contain Singletary, then the Heels should win big. Well, they didn't exactly win big, but they did manage to contain Singletary. The fact that UNC won this game when they shot 39% is amazing.
6. Kansas plays Oklahoma State (#10) at home. Watch this game if you can. It will be a close one. Yeah, about as close as Seattle and Madrid. This wasn't even close, and our excitement about Oklahoma State is waning by the minute.
7. Pitt should dominate DePaul. Not quite a domination, but a win none-the-less.
11. Duke coming off the loss at home against Va. Tech will face another tough opponent. While Georgia Tech is young, they are more talented than the Blue Devils. We smell an upset. We smelled it yesterday. Upset city baby! No doubt that Duke is a good team, but they lack the ability they have had in the past of being able to have 4 or 5 go-to guys that can help pull them out of a close game. In fact, this year they have no one who can pull them out of a close game. McRoberts? Please. We'd rather have McDonald (Ronald) on the floor at crunch time. Why is he so cocky? He is averaging a whopping 12.8 points per game.
12. Butler will keep rolling through their conference with a win at Illinois-Chicago. Took an OT to do it, but Butler kept I-C from rallying to an upset.
20. Tennessee at Vandy will be interesting. While UT should win this game, we think it will be close, and possibly an upset. And again, we somehow could smell upset, and we got it.
22. UConn will not have an easy time with Marquette (who just dropped out of the top 25 with a sorry performance against Syracuse), but will win this home game. We were wrong! Marquette controlled most of this game and won.
25. Maryland will beat Miami. They are tough at home. And Gary Williams is a helluva coach. The Terrapins go to Clemson at the end of the week, and that may be the beginning of the end for the Tigers. Wrong again! We completely forgot Miami's win back in December over then #24 Georgia Tech. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, they will get the wrath of Duke as they visit them at Cameron Indoor Asylum this weekend.
Six top 25 games tomorrow, but we are taking the night off on predicting outcomes. We will note that we love the underdog, and if San Jose State (1-13) can beat #15 Nevada, we would be pleased. Go Spartans! This team is the same team who was only down by 8 to Duke at Duke in December, before losing.
