Clemson Still Rolling

Despite the awesome block pictured here, Clemson managed another win at NC State to improve to 17-0. We are still waiting for the Tigers to self-destruct after ACC teams realize the key to beating them is to force them to shoot from the outside. Someone is going to break the Clemson Code soon and then it will be all over.

Florida had a rough time against an Arkansas team coming off a blasting of Alabama this weekend. The Razorbacks hung tough at Florida, and this game is a good indication of how good the SEC is this year--perhaps the best conference in the country. Lots of parity.

Baylor lost to Texas A&M, proving once more they can't beat a top 25 team, even on their home court. Texas A&M gets 7th straight win. They (Texas A&M) do belong in the top 10 (#9), but their game against Oklahoma State (one of our favs) next week will be their biggest test yet.

Ohio State continues to transition to Oden in the lineup. Our Golden Boy finished with only 10 points and 7 rebounds. We are trying to remember that, although he looks 45 years old, he is only a freshman. Wisconsin only won by 3 at home, and OSU did keep up in the second half. The Buckeyes get Tennessee at home later this week, which should be a close game but an OSU win.

Alabama ralied from the loss to Arkansas by beating LSU. Does anyone other than us think LSU is underperforming?? They have 4 players averaging double figures and they have Big Baby Glen Davis averaging a 19.4 points and 10.4 rebounds a game. Why are they not more dominant? They even have some decent depth. They should roll pretty easily through the next few weeks until they have to play Alabama again at the end of the month.

What a comeback! Air Force (another one of our favorites) down by 15 to New Mexico at halftime outscores the Lobos 41-18 in the second half to hand New Mexico its fourth straight loss. Air Force is for real!

Notre Dame bounced back from a massacre by Georgetown to win over #21 West Virginia. The Big East also has a lot of talent, and it will be difficult to see who will rise above the others until the end of the season. The Big East Tournament will be riddled with upsets.

Several Top 25 teams in action on Wednesday. Let's break it down for you:

2. UNC playing Virginia at Chapel Hill. If they successfully contain Singletary, then the Heels should win big.

6. Kansas plays Oklahoma State (#10) at home. Watch this game if you can. It will be a close one.

7. Pitt should dominate DePaul.

11. Duke coming off the loss at home against Va. Tech will face another tough opponent. While Georgia Tech is young, they are more talented than the Blue Devils. We smell an upset.

12. Butler will keep rolling through their conference with a win at Illinois-Chicago.

20. Tennessee at Vandy will be interesting. While UT should win this game, we think it will be close, and possibly an upset.

22. UConn will not have an easy time with Marquette (who just dropped out of the top 25 with a sorry performance against Syracuse), but will win this home game.

25. Maryland will beat Miami. They are tough at home. And Gary Williams is a helluva coach. The Terrapins go to Clemson at the end of the week, and that may be the beginning of the end for the Tigers.

Goodnight. Happy Hoops.
