Sleeper Teams

As always there are some dangerously underappreciated teams out there who very well may surprise some folks in the Tourney. Check out our list of "upset-makers."

Vermont: Cushy schedule, but did beat then #14 BC. Senior Chris Holm is averaging almost 12 rebounds a game.

Florida State: Will have some close, but big, wins in the ACC this year. Three players averaging double figures, but not a lot of experience. Will make the Tourney.

Providence: If they can make it through the Big East they can go as far as the Sweet Sixteen.

Michigan: Four Seniors starting will give Michigan a huge advantage come Tourny time. Impressive win over Illinois.

Kansas State: Never doubt the ability of Bob Huggins to fire up a team. Let's see how they do tomorrow night at Texas A&M.

Drexel: We like the odd name, and their Sagarin ranking is high, so you never know. They may survive the first round.

Akron: Tough loss to Nevada by 2, but they are strong with an experienced line-up. Could they go as far as the Great Eight? We think so.

Missouri State: Lots of experienced players should get them into the Tourney, and they will be a tough opponent.

Appalachian State: Getting stronger each game, and rolled easily through the San Juan Shootout with impressive win over Vandy. D.J. Thompson runs the team well, and is a well-versed go-to player. They will surprise some teams.

Fresno State: Have 5 players averaging a total of 30.9 rebounds per game. They are big, but can they convert those rebounds into points? Only time will tell.
